2012 Iowa Cup

In its 7 years of existence, the Iowa Cup competition has really become a part of the fabric of Iowa Cycling. It’s the best points system we have to truly recognize the best road racers in the state in each category.

Rules:

  • Series Standings will be updated after each race weekend and not during.
  • Series Standings will be calculated off the riders best 11 races allowing for each rider to drop 2 races.
  • The leader of the individual standings will be provided free entry into races on the schedule. First race eligible for free entry will be Iowa City RR, but last years winners receive entry into Squaw Creek..
  • The scoring of all Individual Categories will be based on the top ten Iowa riders without counting out of state riders.
  • The scoring of the Team Categories will be from the Elite race and based on the Top riders from Iowa teams without counting out of state teams.
  • Points will be for the top 7 riders: (10, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1)
  • Tie breaking for Individual Categories will be Most wins -> Most 2nd places -> Most 3rd places -> etc. -> Total points from all 13 races
  • All Iowa Cup scores will be based on official USAC postings only
  • In the case of a tie in the results, all tied riders will be scored equally at the place they are tied but each scored rider will take of a points slot
  • To earn Iowa Cup points in a race, you must finish the race due to scoring discrepancies that occur in races with pulled rides such as Snake Alley
